An Evening at the Theatre

One thing everyone should experience at least once in their lives is a night (or even a matinee) at one of the great theatres of London. London’s theatre district is rivaled only by New York’s Broadway, and many London shows hold world-wide records for attendance and longevity.
There are plays and musicals, such as Les Miserables, which have been running for many years and have been hugely popular, drawing in crowds counted in the thousands each week. What many people don’t realize though, is that a night at a London theatre may not be as expensive as it might seem. London ticket prices are generally cheaper than those of Broadway, and that hotels in Aldwych or other theatre district neighbourhoods are not necessarily as pricey as one might expect.

The fact is, taking in one of the spectacular productions such as Les Miserables, The Lion King or Phantom of the Opera is an experience you’ll never forget. It’s difficult to appreciate what a powerful impact a well-written and performed play or musical can have when seen in person. 3D cinema and all the other wonderful technological advances in entertainment still cannot compete with the experience of seeing living, breathing actors performing their craft in the flesh. Seeing an Andrew Lloyd Weber creation come to life in the hands of a professional theatrical troupe is a breathtaking and sublime pleasure.

So, maybe it’s time to consider a visit to London to witness a cultural expression that still thrives, centuries after the Bard penned his immortal works. A night in one of the Trafalgar Square hotels and a pair of tickets to a major show may not be as costly as you think - get online and check out the discounts available on rooms and tickets. You may be surprised just how affordable it can be and I promise, it’s worth every penny.
