Introducing Vienna

This glittering capital was once the crown jewel in a rich and glorious empire; under the long rule of the Hapsburg dynasty, the Austro-Hungarian Empire exerted its influence across most of Europe. When you book a stay at one of the many hotels in Vienna, you’ll soon begin to spot the telltale signs of this noble history.

The majestic streets and promenades of this fine city are lined with pillars and colonnades, parks and monuments, and everywhere around you will find ornate churches, stately public buildings and lavish private residences.

If you enjoy shopping, then head to the central district of the city – here you’ll be able to choose from a broad selection of designer boutiques, fashion outlets and other popular retailers. Alternatively, for something a little more unique you could head to Vienna’s bustling market place – where spice merchants from the East rub shoulders with traditional clockmakers, and stalls selling all manner of other curious souvenirs.

When you visit Vienna, you’ll find countless ways to entertain yourself during your stay. If you have an interest in psychology for example, then you might care to pay a visit to the Sigmund Freud Museum. Vienna was the hometown of the legendary psychoanalyst himself, and on a visit to the Freud museum, you’ll be able to see items and exhibitions which detail the life and times of the man behind the myth. Not only that, but the museum’s exhibits offer a fascinating critique of his work, as well as following Freud’s legacy, through the later psychoanalytic publications of his daughter Anna Freud.

Alternatively, what better way to spend a night in Vienna, than with a trip to the opera? Treat yourself to a stay at the lavish Hilton Hotel Vienna, and experience the city in style. Sometimes referred to as the opera capital of the world, there will be no shortage of evening entertainments on offer here, for anybody who has a passion for fine music and song.
